Takeaway style Rogan Josh Curry

Recreate that ‘restaurant/takeaway curry taste’ in your home kitchen.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 portion of Mr Curry Lover’s Grilled Chicken
  • 1 portion of Basic Curry Sauce
  • 1 tbls sunflower/vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp extra hot chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 400 ml tomato pasata
  • 1 fresh tomato cut in to quarters
  • 1 onion finely chopped and fried
  • 1 red pepper chopped and fried


Part 1 (The Marinade)

Part 2 (The Base Sauce)

Part 3 (The Curry)

  • Mix together 1 tsp extra hot chilli powder, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp garam masala & 2 tsp paprika
  • In a saucepan or wok heat 1 tbls of oil on a medium heat
  • Add the mixed spices and quickly stir for about 30 seconds (don’t allow the spices to burn)
  • Add the tomato pasata and carry on stirring for a further 30 seconds
  • Add a batch of Mr Curry Lover’s Base Curry and stir for 1 minute
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, fried onions and fried red pepper
  • Add the Chicken that you prepared earlier using the instructions from Mr Curry Lover’s Grilled Chicken and cook on a medium heat for about 5 minutes
  • Serve and enjoy

Milder: If everyone wants it milder add more tomato pasata.
Hotter: If everyone wants it hotter add extra chilli powder.  If some but not all people want it hotter add some chopped fresh chillies when served
